What We Are
Granite Well & Pump drills wells, repairs pumps and services water systems across twenty towns in the New Hampshire Lakes Region — Laconia, Gilford, Meredith, Moultonborough, Wolfeboro, Alton, Gilmanton, Belmont, Tilton, Northfield, Franklin, Sanbornton, Center Harbor, Holderness, Ashland, Bristol, New Hampton, Plymouth, Tuftonboro and Barnstead, in Belknap, Carroll, Grafton and Merrimack Counties.
New bedrock wells, deepening and hydrofracking; submersible and jet pump repair and replacement; pressure tanks, switches and water systems; and well inspection and water testing including real-estate transaction inspections. No-water calls get priority.
We Would Rather You Didn’t Need Us
The troubleshooter is the first thing on this site rather than a booking form, and it leads with “check the breaker” rather than “call us”. That is deliberate.
The most common cause of no water is a tripped breaker. Telling you that costs us a callout and earns us the next three, because a household that has just been saved a needless call-out fee remembers who saved it. The same logic runs through the symptom pages: they tell you what to check, what it probably is, and roughly what it should cost, including when the answer is “this is not a well contractor’s job”.
It also happens to be the right way to treat people who have no running water.
Five Things We Commit To
Honest ranges on drilling, not tidy numbers
Yield in granite is a fracture question. Nobody knows the depth before the hole is drilled. We give you a per-foot rate, a realistic range, and an agreement about what happens if we run past it — rather than a comfortable figure that changes at 400 feet with a rig on your lot.
Diagnosis before replacement
Pulling a pump is the big-ticket item in this trade, and replacing one when the problem was a $200 pressure switch is an expensive way to be wrong. We work the sequence: power, switch, tank, pump, well.
The tank gets checked whenever a pump fails
Because putting a new pump back onto a tank that killed the last one is not a repair. Short-cycling is the most common avoidable cause of premature pump failure in this region and it is routinely missed.
We tell you when it is a yield problem
Sputtering that recovers overnight is the well, not the pump. Selling somebody a bigger pump for that symptom is both wrong and profitable, which is exactly why it happens. The honest answers are storage, hydrofracking or deepening, and they are worth comparing.
No-water calls come first
No drinking water, no toilets, no make-up water for a boiler. On a rural property fifteen minutes from anywhere, that is a household emergency rather than an inconvenience, and we schedule accordingly.
What We Do Not Do
We do not sell or install water treatment systems. If your test comes back with arsenic, iron or hardness we will tell you what the result means and point you at the people who treat it — but we have no system to sell you, which is why you can trust our reading of the numbers. The resources page covers testing and treatment.
We also do not do interior plumbing, electrical work beyond the well circuit, or septic systems. If one fixture in your house has low pressure and everything else is fine, that is a plumber's job and we will say so rather than coming out.
And we keep certification and licensing claims off this site until the credentials behind them are current and real. If you want to know what qualifications the person at your well holds, ask, and you will get a direct answer.
